Shirkant Mukund Choudhari comes from an engineering background. But storytelling has always fascinated him. Observing the city life, different people, and the chaos always forced him to tell interesting stories about them. This is what turned him into a filmmaker. Shrikant has assisted various filmmakers to gain a deeper knowledge about filmmaking and then, started making short films. He edited feature films like Kastoori (2019) which got a national award for best children's film category. Vartul is his debut feature film as a director.
The story begins at a time when Abhimanyu and Uttara are about to welcome a baby in their life. But they find a dangerous criminal in their home – a dumb and deaf man who wants to kill Abhimanyu because he has witnessed a murder committed by the criminal. In the ensuing fight, Uttara hammers him, and he is trapped with the couple in their house. As different incidents unfold in the span of that day, a vicious cycle of fear hounds the couple as they remain trapped in their house with a dangerous man.
