Lionel Baier is a Swiss writer – director- producer, who started out as co-manager and programmer at the Rex cinema in Aubonne. He then worked as assistant director for various films and commercials. Between 2002-21, he was Head of Cinema department at the ECAL. In 2009 he cofounded Bande à part Films. Baier is best known for the award-winning Longwave (2013), which became a festival hit and was honoured with the Trophée Francophone for Best Director. Vanity (2015) was selected for ACID in Cannes. Shock Waves – First Name: Mathieu screened in the Berlinale Panorama in 2018.
Nathalie Adler is on a mission in Sicily for the European Union, organizing the upcoming visit of a migrant camp by Macron and Merkel. Their presence has great symbolic value, demonstrating that everything is under control. But who is still prepared to believe in this European family on the verge of a nervous breakdown? Definitely not Albert, Nathalie's son, who is an activist with a non-profit and turns up out of the blue, years after breaking off all contact with his mother.
