Citation:

Presenting a powerful cinematic experience by assembling the crafts of motion picture with not only haunting and memorable imageries, but also magnificently allegorical narratives this extraordinary film took us to the age-old days of filmmaking styles and traditions. The filmmaker shrouds a powerful political subtext on exploitation of the destitute humans with a story on the ultimate sacrifice in the name of their faith, which humans always held onto - not only for survival, but also to hide their own weaknesses and victimhood. The Prabath Award of the Government of Maharashtra for the Best International Film of the 22nd Pune International Film Festival goes to Citizen Saint.

Government of Maharashtra "Prabhat" Best International Film Director award along with the prize money of Rs. 5 Lakhsis given to the French director Anaïs TELLENNE for the film The Dreamer (L'homme D'argile)

Citation:

The exercise of the directorial sovereignty of creative choices are manifested in every minute of this fabulous cinematic poem, carefully painting light, darkness and textures with colours in adroitly fixated frames to give meanings to the lives of the characters whom might have been picked up from an ancient fairytale; yet, they become convincingly complex with the layers of their past memories and present desires. What makes this film a masterpiece is not only its cinematic sophistication, but the orchestration of performances - the balancing of one against the other to complete its gripping mise-en-scene. The Prabath Award of the Government of Maharashtra for the Best International Director of the 22nd Pune International Film Festival goes to The Dreamer.

MIT-SFT Human Spirit Award, along with the prize money of USD 1000 is given to the director Amr Gamal for the film The Burdened produced in Yemen, Sudan, Saudi Arabia

One Special Mention Certificate

A special Mention certificate is given to the Bulgarian Actress Eli Skorcheva for the film Blaga’s Lessons (Urotcite Na Blaga)

Citation:

The Jury of the 22nd Pune International Film Festival has decided to dedicate a Special Mention to an unforgettable performance that remarkably stood up against all other talents. The Jury was awed by the screen presence of this woman who was convincingly consistent throughout her venture to fulfil her quest, and also who was lucidly transformative from a naive beginning to an audacious end of her journey. With this performer's extraordinary capacity to hold our heartbeat at times, she has elevated our cinematic experience to a much greater level. The Jury therefore, rewards Eli Skorcheva of the film Blaga's Lessons with a special mention for her exceptional performance of a widow who in vain labours to find eternal peace for her dead infidel husband.
