Alexandru Mavrodineanu moved to Germany at eighteen and started working in television and film gaining practical experience in all the specific departments, especially as cinematographer. He worked for German Television RTL as cinematographer between 2003 – 2005. He returned to Romania in 2006 in order to direct his own screenplays. He made his directorial debut with The Boxing Lesson (2007).
Petre works as a night watchman. During the day, Petre is trying to introduce his son, Robert, to the manele music industry. Petre is sure that his boy is a natural-born talent with music in his blood. During an audition held by manager Bursuc, Robert misses his shot at becoming a star, but on the way home he gets one more chance to express himself..
