Director’s Biography :

Nine Hills One Valley

Dhanjit Das is an Assamese filmmaker. He was bought up in a small rural village of Assam (India). He did his film study from Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government film and Television Institute, Guwahati. He is always fascinated by the contrast of city and rural life, and have interest towards human emotions. Dhanjit Das directed few short films and college projects that reflect his interest, he had also written for a few regional films from Assam, like – Choloma (2017), and Pepper Chicken (2018). Xobdo-Nixobdo-Kolahol (Soul of Silence) is his debut feature film as a director.

Synopsis :

Soul of silence is an anthology film consisting of three stories exploring the emotional complexities of three labour families of rural Assam. The film is divided in three parts: The Sound - The Silence - The Dissonance. All stories tell the tales of how changes in surroundings, even if a little one, forces these underprivileged labour families to come to terms with their living. The world looks at them differently, while they stand helpless, looking at it.
