Born in 1976 Ishteyak Arif Khan was born and raised primarily at Panna (Madhya Pradesh). Apart from being a graduate from National School Of Drama, Ishteyak also holds a Prabhakar degree in music. He nurtured his talent in the field of theatre and music in the company of eminent personalities like, Late B.V.Karanth, Bansi Kaul, Ram Gopal Bajaj, Devendra Raj Ankur, Anuradha Kapur, Late Alakhnandan, Rob Clear and few more. Apart from acting in plays like SaiyaBhayeKotwaal, AadheAdhure, MadhyamVyayog, MahaNirmaan, PataShehar Mumbai, etc., he also directed plays like EkThhaGadhaUrfAladad Khan, Ramleela, Ulukh, Khabsurat bahu, Shadow of Othello, etc. Alongside he has also been designing and directing music for several plays.
Presently he has also acquired popularity for his acting in cinema for films like Agyaat, Phas Gaye Re Obama, Tees Maar Khan, Jolly LLB, Phata Poster Nikla Hero, KLPD, Mastram, Tamasha etc.
At a small village in staunch northern rural areas of india are some unemployed, loafers, half employed and confusingly employed people, who get inspired by a hindi feature film 'Omkara' to the extent that they start planning to recreate the film. They all cast themselves in the characters of the film. But, soon they realize that to make a film is not their cup of tea. Suddenly a more aware of the lot, 'Bhole', who has failed to understand the art theatre at the city in past, informs everybody, that the film Omkara is an adaptation of shakespeare's "Othella" and further proposes to prepare a play instead. Agreeing on this, somehow they all convince a delhi based theatre personality, Gyanendra Raj Ankur to come and direct the play. Ankur ji who has worked with professional actors, when come to face these extremely multi-talented people from the village, realizes the importance along with the obstacles he is going to face. Villagers are keen to perform Omkara but not Othello. Everyone aims to play the characters from the film, captain(ajaydevgan), langdatyagi(saifali khan), etc. The conflict arises as they all dream of performing Omkara whereas director Ankur plans to do Othello in a classical way which is full of imagery. The conflict increases to the extent that it starts to reflect jealousy, irritation, conspiracy and politics and the shrewd drama of Shakespeare's othello starts playing in their lives. Now does the play happen? Does Ankur ji succeed to deliver lessons about acting, drama and life to them? How this play balance the tragedy of shakespeare's Othello keeping the entertainment intact, is what Shadow Of Othello is about.
