Director's Biography:

Maryam Touzani

Maryam Touzani is a Tangier-born director, screenwriter, and actor. She has directed the short films When They Slept (2012), Aya Goes to the Beach (2015) which were screened at multiple festivals and won many awards. She has also made a number of documentaries. As a screenwriter, she collaborated with Nabil Ayouch on his films like Much Loved (2015) and Razzia (2017). She directed her debut feature in 2019 Adam, which was played in multiple festivals.

Synopsis:

Halim and Mina run a traditional caftan store in one of Morocco’s oldest medinas. In order to keep up with the commands of the demanding customers, they hire Youssef. The talented apprentice shows an utmost dedication in learning the art of embroidery and tailoring from Halim. Slowly Mina realises how much her husband is moved by the presence of the young man.
