Director’s Biography:

Paolo Sorrentino has developed a distinctive filmmaking style characterized by non-naturalistic narratives, kinetic visuals and a signature satirical streak present throughout his seven feature films. One Man Up (2001) was his debut feature. His six subsequent films have all launched from the Cannes competition section, a rare feat. Il Divo (2008) remains his one of the most successful films. His first English film, This Must Be The Place (2011) won jury prize at Cannes. While The Great Beauty (2016) not only won commercial acclaim but Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Synopsis:

Power, sex, politics, business: this is the story of the life of Silvio Berlusconi, who repeatedly made headlines with scandals, and continues to polarize to this day. Everyone corrupts everyone, and everything revolves around the eternally cheerful, Silvio Berlusconi. As a ruthless real estate salesman, he has risen from a crooner to a multi-billionaire, media czar and most powerful man in the country. He promises paradise to everyone and everyone wants to grab his share of it: Sergio, the little pimp from the province with his beautiful helper, as well as the political elements of Rome. In truth, the Silvio broods lonely at his summer residence in Sardinia, voted out and burned out. Not only his wife has seen through his tricks and scorns him. But when he learns of the intrigues against him, his ingenious seller instinct is stirring again. He knows like no other, with which people let themselves be seduced.
