Director’s Biography:

Jiri Madl (October 23, 1986) is an award winning script writer and director. In 2009, he graduated from the University of J. A. Comenius where he studied Social and Mass Communication and subsequently graduated in screenwriting at the New York Film Academy. Jiri’s directorial debut, To See The Sea (2014) has got 5 nominations and 1 award at the Czech Film Critics Award 2014. Other awards from SOUEL YIFF, MONTREAL ICFF, VOICES European FF, MOTOVUN IFF, IFF ZLIN and many more.

Synopsis:

Professor Ryparoffers temporary refuge to Song, ayoung Vietnamese he has found hiding on the roof of his building. But can two suchwildly different people share an apartment without some kind of catastrophe? Will it aidtheir cheeky plan at all? The coexistence of the bitter old man, angry at a world he has losta hold on, and a young man looking for a way out of a desperate situation in a strange city,brings numerous points of friction, tragi-comic situations, as well as surprising ideas andsolutions. After all, we all need to be needed by someone. And aside from warm clothesand a roof over his head, Song needs someone he can trust and who will trust him inreturn. But can anyone just trust some unknown boy? Professor Rypar will try, even if itmeans compromising his principles a bit. But is Song truly capable of repaying the trust?
