Director's Biography:

Michal Blaško

Michal Blaško studied film and television directing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava in Slovakia and FAMO Písek in the Czech Republic. His filmography includes short films Fear (2015), The Truck (2017), and Atlantis 2003 (2017) which premiered at the Cinéfondation at the Cannes FF and the Karlovy Vary IFF. Victim is a debut feature film and was nominated for the Orizzonti Award, Venice FF.

Synopsis:

When her son Igor is attacked, single mom Irina rushes back to the Czech town where they live. Igor tries to hide what really happened to him and spots three Roma as the assailants. the whole city stands up in solidarity with her family and condemns their Roma neighbors. Irina’s blind love seeks for justice while ignoring the unpleasant truth. The prevalent anti-Roma sentiment rapidly deteriorates into a neo-Nazi movement and creates an uproar in the small village.
